Mothers are the most important people in our lives, and there’s no doubt about it. They’re the ones that brought us into this world, and without them we literally wouldn’t exist. Mothers are amazing and should be appreciated every day for all the things they do for their kids and especially on Mother’s Day. If you find it difficult to think of what to do for your mother on Mother’s Day – here’s a list of handy suggestions. Remember – the best gift for your mother is the time you spend with her. It might be easier to do that if you’re still a kid and live under the same roof, but it gets more difficult to find time for that after you move out. Make sure to mark Mother’s day in your calendar and plan ahead.
Book A Spa Date
Moms are always busy. They constantly find something that needs to be done whether it be cooking dinner, cleaning, or taking care of a child. They’re always worrying about things and caring about others more than themselves. So, why not suggest a lazy day? This is a day when your mother can just relax and do nothing but pamper herself. You can book a spa day for two and go enjoy some face-masks, wraps and massages. While you’re at it, why not get a matching manicure or pedicure and perhaps change up your hair? Your mom probably needs an excellent day off just for her.
Go To The Movies
When was the last time your mom went to the movies? If she’s a busy mommy, she probably can’t even remember the last time that happened. Try surprising her with a couple of tickets and go with her. It’ll be a great bonding activity. Alternatively, you could plan a movie night right from your couch. Buy a bunch of snacks, order some pizza, have a glass of wine or two and spend the evening re-watching your favorite movies. This will certainly be fun for each of you and relaxing. Use this as an opportunity to catch up, re-live old memories and create new ones.
Take A Master Class
This is a perfect opportunity to learn something together. You could take a painting class together if you’re into arts, or you could take a cooking masterclass if you love to cook. The point is to go and enjoy learning something new together. Don’t worry about the results of the class. For example, if it’s painting – there’s a very little chance you’ll find out you’re the next Picasso. If it’s cooking, you might fail completely, and your dish won’t even be edible. That’s not the point. Just enjoy the process and have fun together.
Go On Vacation
If you can coordinate this and go on an actual vacation together, this would be awesome. If the chances of that are slim, how about a mini getaway? You could go somewhere for the weekend, just the two of you. Try going to a neighboring city or perhaps a weekend in Vegas. The point is to get away from your everyday life and problems. Just leave for a bit and get away from it all. Everyone needs a break once in a while, especially your mom. A change of scenery will do you both good, and you could explore a new place together.
Picnic
If you can’t get away from your city or town, you could just go on a picnic. Pick a beautiful spot in the park and have a picnic together. You could talk and catch up, maybe play some board games. But be sure to prepare the picnic basket yourself. It is solely your responsibility. It’s your mother’s day off. Make some of your favourite snacks, but some fruits, perhaps a cheese platter and a bottle of wine, and enjoy your relaxing day out.
Shopping
If you and your mom share a passion for shopping, why not indulge yourselves on this day. Take your mom to a shopping mall and buy her a few new things. It’s kind of like giving her a gift card, but with more thought behind it. Maybe you could even get something matching, just for fun. Another thing to remember is that it doesn’t have to be shopping for clothes. Perhaps your mom likes interior design, but couldn’t find time to go and buy things for the house, so you can do that together. Try going makeup shopping. In most makeup shops, they usually have some makeup artists that will gladly give you a makeover using the products you wish to buy. This could be a fun thing to do with your mom, now wouldn’t it?
Unusual Activities
Step out of your comfort zone and go do something crazy and memorable with your mom. You could go horseback riding together or mountain climbing. Perhaps your mother has always wanted to take a ride in a hot air balloon. You can make it happen! Maybe you’re both adrenaline junkies; why not skydive? It’ll be an unforgettable experience, and you’ll have fun doing it. Maybe, just maybe your mom’s cool enough to get a tattoo? Then why not get some tattoos together. Choose something you’ve never done before and something that you’ll have fun doing it. This is a great way to spend a day together and create a new wonderful memory.
Dance-Off
Have a dance party with your mom. It would be lovely if you could get a whole group of mothers and daughters and could have an actual dance-off. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it when it’s just the two of you. You can make a lovely themed playlist and just dance as much as you want. “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper is a must on that playlist. Enjoy and dance until you drop. You could also just go to a group dance lesson and perhaps learn some new moves. Who doesn’t want to look good on the dancefloor? But don’t stress if you look funny, the point is to have fun.
