16 Ways to Avoid Skin Sunburn
Sparkling sun comes with the news of summers. Summers a season of sun bath, beaches, water fights and so many other exciting activities.
Generally we considered sunlight as the best natural resource and blessing of God, but when we look it scientifically, sunlight is quite complex. It is a combination of infrared, visible and ultraviolet rays. With the benefits of sunlight, unfortunately it contains some negative aspects. And one of them is red, peely, embarrassing sunburns.
A burn puts you on increased risk of skin cancer and signs of premature aging. So if you want to keep your skin burn-free, you have to follow some rules throughout the season, and it all began with:
Using sunscreen: The sun produce three types of ultraviolet rays, UVA, UVB and UVC. And these can increase the chances of skin cancer. So the best protection is to apply best sunscreen.
Chose best SPF: Sunscreen includes SPF which protects your skin from UVB rays. So it’s good to select a product which has appropriate amount of SPF for complete and better protection.
Counter check the expiration date: It’s important to use a sunscreen that is able to protect your skin. So firstly you have to check the expiry date of the product to insure the quality of product.
Apply proper amount: You have to apply enough amount of sunscreen for full benefits. Apply sunscreen on all over your body and make sure to apply it 30mins before you go outside.
Re-apply: Reapply sunscreen after every two hours if you are going outside for prolonged period of time. As your sunscreen is going to wear off with the passage of time.
Stay out of the sun during peak hours: The UV rays are stronger between the hours of 10am to 4pm. So going outside in these hours is a great risk. It is better to stay indoor during these hours to avoid sun burn.
Wearing right clothes: If you go outside during peak hours, it’s better to wear full sleeves shirts and pants to prevent the sunburn. Avoid to wear dark colors because it can block more sunlight then light colors.
Staying in shade: If you are going outside so it’s better to choose areas where sun doesn’t reach, such as beneath a large, leafy tree, and if you are going somewhere where you can’t find tree shadows then use umbrella or any other thing which provides you enough shade to avoid direct sunlight.
Consume more vitamin D: As we all know that sun provide us vitamin D, so by consuming rich food like fermented cod liver oil and supplements which contains vitamin D will help to protect us from the UV radiation of the sun.
Eat saturated fats: Use healthy foods, dietary fats and oils that will help in blocking skin tissues, so if your skin is enriched with oils it will be more helpful to avoid sunburn.
Apply coconut oil on skin: Coconut oil is a powerful healing agent, and by rubbing it on skin helps to prevent damage that occurs due to the sun exposure.
Avoid sun tanning oil: In western countries they used to apply tanning oils. but tanning oil does more harm than good, so it’s better to avoid tanning oils and use sunscreen because sunscreen are best rather than tanning oils.
Use Omega 3: Taking Omega3 fish oil will help protect against sun damage. A daily dose of Omega3 will help to reduce sunlight induced suppression of immune system.
Less use of processed foods: You need to avoid diets, full of processed food including soy oil, corn oil and sugar. By avoiding these fatty foods can protect your skin from sunburns.
